Carbon Neutral Shipping

We clean up after ourselves

Ecommerce deliveries have a carbon footprint. That's why we support cutting-edge companies that remove carbon from the air.

Together, participating businesses have…

  • Removed thousands of tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere
  • Provided carbon-neutral shipping on more than ten million orders

Here's how it works: For every order we receive, a formula is used to calculate the estimated shipping emissions. Based on those estimates, a portion of our revenue goes to carbon removal companies that have been vetted by scientists from Carbon Direct. Those companies use that money to remove however much carbon our shipments created. Any extra funds go toward the further development of carbon removal technologies.

Let's meet a few of the companies removing our shipping emissions.

Heirloom

Heirloom's direct air capture technology enhances the carbon mineralization process. Heirloom's technology speeds up the rate at which naturally occurring minerals capture CO₂ rather than using energy-intensive fans to draw air in.

Remora

Remora captures CO₂ from semi-truck tailpipes as they drive, with the CO₂ destined for long-term storage.

Charm

Charm captures CO₂ using plant waste, converts it into a stable, carbon-rich liquid, and safely stores it deep underground—out of reach of wildfires and soil erosion.

Sustainable Sourcing and Manufacturing

Sustainable Materials

FEDS Apparel believes that a shirt that creates a canvas for good begins with the materials we choose. We take steps to reduce the environmental impacts in both our products and our packaging.

We are continuing to grow our assortment of products with sustainable content by further developing the C-FREE line of carbon neutral apparel, adding to the District RE collection of apparel made from recycled materials and expanding our use of recycled and repurposed materials in general.

Energy and Water

FEDS Apparel continues to strive to reduce our energy and water use wherever possible through careful measurement and continuous improvement in our facilities and processes.

Energy Use

Since we began tracking and reporting on our energy use, several initiatives have been implemented, including smart LED lighting in our warehouses and efficiency improvements to the HVAC system in our facilities.

Water Use

We strive to reduce domestic water use by installing water-efficient fixtures, monitoring devices for early leak detection and water-efficient landscaping.

Circularity

To move away from the cycle of “take-make-waste,” we are committed to finding circular product solutions which address the impact of our products beyond their useful life.

In Partnership With SanMar’s Textile Recycling Referral Program

We have developed a decision tree as a resource for ourselves and for our customers, to help determine how to recycle or dispose of products in a responsible way. We also work with Looptworks, a certified B Corp focused on reducing waste in the textile industry since 2009.

Waste Reduction

Understanding and improving what we do with materials at the end of their useful life is just as important as reducing our resource usage when they are created.
Over the years we have implemented several initiatives to reduce and keep waste out of landfill. From providing recycling and compost options at our home office to packaging reduction efforts at our distribution centers, we aim to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible.

Emissions

As part of FEDS Apparel’s commitment to sustainability, we are taking steps to reduce emissions in our facilities and supply chain.

Science-Based Targets

In partnership with SanMar, we signed on to the Science Based Targets initiative to set an ambitious, company-wide target to cut carbon emissions in line with climate science.
